The locations behind Spider – Man: Brand New Day

One of this summer’s biggest movie moments is finally here: Spider-Man: Brand New Day. With Tom Holland returning as our friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man, the film sees Peter Park enter a world that doesn’t remember him, sparking a change he might not have the power to control. With Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Michael Mando and Mark Ruffalo co-starring, the film arrives with major buzz.
Did you know that several key scenes were filmed in the South of England? That’s right, Brand New Day joins the wave of Hollywood blockbusters turning to England’s studios, crew and locations for their ambitious shoots.
The search for locations:
Building a blockbuster of this scale requires locations that can offer versatility, size and accessibility; and the Locations Department are the drivers behind this fascinating part of the filmmaking process.
Filming in England are on hand to support productions with their search for locations, and were contacted by the Locations Department for a number of location briefs – we then worked with our Film Office and Local Authority partners to showcase some of the many options available across England. Joely Ellis, Production Liaison Manager for the East and South East, comments:

The production were looking for 19th/20th Century New York doubles, closable roads, flyover bridges, both modern and brutalist atriums and more. Pinewood Studios, Buckinghamshire
From Star Wars to James Bond and other Marvel films Captain America: The First Avenger and The Fantastic Four: First Steps, the iconic Pinewood Studios has hosted some of the biggest moments in film history. Brand New Day was filmed across four stages, the backlot and the Ballroom at Pinewood – you can see stills from the shoot here.
Fanum House in Basingstoke, Hampshire
In September 2025, it hit the headlines that Tom Holland was spotted filming in a business park in Basingstoke. This was for a significant set piece featuring Spider-Man tethered to a moving truck which was shot at Fanum House, the former headquarters of the AA (Automobile Association). The Historic Dockyard Chatham, Kent
Various scenes were filmed at The Historic Dockyard Chatham, one of Kent’s most popular filming locations. The dockyard is a 17th century maritime site featuring Georgian and Victorian Buildings and cobbled streets that have been used in The Crown, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, The Thursday Murder Club and more.
In Brand New Day, the location doubles as a villainous lair. We spoke to the team at The Historic Dockyard Chatham about the shoot; Chloe Wilson, Commercial Sales Manager told us:
“Welcoming the production to The Historic Dockyard Chatham was a pleasure. Filming took place across two unique areas on the estate, aboard HMS Cavalier, our Second World War Destroyer, and in Slip 7, a working commercial shipyard, which required careful planning and close collaboration throughout. The locations team were fantastic partners, working with us to understand each location’s challenges and to minimise disruption to our visitors and tenants.
We always feel really proud to see our historic spaces brought to life in different ways on the big screen and we look forward to welcoming many more productions to the Dockyard in the future.”
Filming across Kent is supported by the team at Kent Film Office, who are on hand to support with locations, sourcing crew and everything in between.
Hertford County Hall, Hertfordshire
Hertford County Hall is a Grade II listed building built in 1939. With a number of huge film and TV credits to its name – Silo, Grantchester and The Boys in The Boat to name a few – the location is a popular American double in England’s filming location canon. The team behind Brand New Day filmed on location there in June, July, October and November 2025. Want to learn more about this? Dorchester Prison, Dorset
A key action sequence was filmed in Dorchester Prison in the South West region, which was built in the Victorian era as a local men’s prison and closed in 2014. The team behind Brand New Day filmed there in November 2025 – if you look out for a prison scene, you’ll see Dorchester Prison in action.
Cllr Richard Biggs, Dorset Council‘s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Economic Growth and Strategic Assets, told us:
“We were delighted to welcome Spider-Man: Brand New Day to Dorchester to see first-hand the benefits that major screen projects can bring our local economy. Large scale productions like this invest directly in local communities, creating opportunities for businesses, suppliers and hospitality providers while supporting employment across a range of sectors.
“This production shone a spotlight on Dorchester’s unique character and rich heritage, proving that Dorset has far more to offer than our world-famous coastline. By attracting internationally recognised productions, we are generating immediate economic benefits as well as building Dorset’s profile as an attractive location for future investment, tourism and growth within the creative industries.”

“Dorset is widely recognised for its spectacular coastline and the Jurassic Coast’s screen credentials, however the county also offers an incredible variety of locations beyond the coast. For Spider-Man: Brand New Day, scenes were filmed at the former Dorchester Prison in the heart of Dorset’s county town, showcasing another side of what the county can offer productions.
Working alongside the production team, we helped facilitate filming through practical support, logistics coordination and local stakeholder engagement. It was fantastic to see local businesses, accommodation providers, crew and suppliers supporting the production, with many reporting a positive boost in trade. The enthusiasm from residents and businesses demonstrates why Dorset continues to be such a film-friendly destination.”
