What better than some Christmas TV to get you in the festive spirit? There’s some wonderful content showing on streaming platforms and broadcasters this Christmas, many of which used the English Regions as its backdrop.
From all new TV specials to returning series and classic films, explore our list of film and TV shows coming to our screens that filmed in England, outside of London.
The Crown Series 6
Part two of the final series of The Crown arrived on Netflix last week, which followed its predecessors by filming on location in some astounding places across England, including at Elstree Studios.

It wouldn’t be a festive watchlist without the Strictly Christmas Special! The Strictly dancers are back bringing us a glamorous special on Christmas day, filmed at Elstree Studios.

Doctor Who Holiday Special: The Church on Ruby Road
The Doctor is back! A very special Doctor Who episode is premiering on Christmas Day, starring new doctor Ncuti Gatwa and featuring locations across Bristol.

The Holiday
A quaint cottage in Godalming, Surrey, has become an iconic filming location thanks to its appearance in 2006 rom-com The Holiday. See Surrey in all of its glory alongside Jude Law, Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet and Jack Black in The Holiday, on Netflix.

Modern Christmas classic Nativity! is available to watch on Amazon Prime, starring Martin Freeman as an uptight primary school teacher. Production for this took place in Coventry, Wawrickshire.
