England’s film and TV landscape is buzzing. With prolific upcoming releases like Digger, Sense and Sensibility, Bad Apples and Practical Magic all filmed here, it’s clear that the English regions continue to be a major draw for feature film and high‑end TV.

And the momentum isn’t slowing, scroll down to see what’s filming right now that we can expect on our screens soon!

The Beatles Biopics – Sony Pictures Entertainment/Neal Street Productions

Where? Liverpool 

The highly anticipated four-film cinematic event from Sam Mendes has been filming in the North West, with Harris Dickinson, Paul Mescal, Barry Keoghan and Joseph Quinn pictured as the Fab Four most recently at Liverpool Town Hall.

Army of Shadows – Channel 4 

Where? Liverpool City Region, Cheshire and Greater Manchester

New Channel 4 thriller Army of Shadows has been filming this summer – another production to film at Liverpool’s Town Hall. Directed by Lisa Gunning (Black Doves), it stars Paddy Considine, America Ferrera and Kit Harington.

You Are Here – BBC

Where? Cumbria, Greater Manchester and Derbyshire

You Are Here is an adaptation of David Nicholls’ novel of the same name; starring Claire Foy and Matthew Macfadyen, its been filming in the North West and Midlands this summer.

Bergerac Season 3 – BlackLight TV/UKTV

Where? Devon 

Hit detective series Bergerac is back, filming on location at the University of Plymouth and in other spaces nearby.  It’ll be back on screens in 2027.

Can You Keep a Secret? Season 2 – Big Talk Studios

Where? The Bottle Yard Studios and on location in the West Country

After a successful first season, a second season of the sitcom starring Dawn French and Mark Heap is on the way!

Open Water – Mam Tor Productions/BBC 

Where? Birmingham 

Based on Caleb Azumah Nelson’s acclaimed debut novel, Open Water is a heartfelt exploration identity and belonging. Filming has been underway in Birmingham on the eight-part series this summer. 

The Cadbury’s – Fable Pictures / Britbox 

Where? Staffordshire and Birmingham

A drama inspired by Deborah Cadbury’s book Chocolate Wars is in production, telling the story of the Bournville-based Cadbury family in their pursuit to create one of the most famous confectionary brands we now know. Filming has been taking place in the Midlands, transforming the streets of Staffordshire town Stafford.

The Detection Club – BBC

Where? Birmingham and Warwickshire

This ten-part series reimagines three of our best known crime writers – Agatha Christie, Dorothy L. Sayers and G.K. Chesterton – as a secret mystery solving society. Filming has also been taking place in Oxfordshire.

Sisters in Arms – Neal Street Productions/BBC 

Where? The Historic Dockyard Chatham, Kent 

Did you know a prequel to Call the Midwife is in production? The brand-new series, Sisters in Arms, has been filming in Kent this summer and wrapped in August.

HBO Max

Harry Potter Series – Warner Bros. 

Where? Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, Hertfordshire 

The new Harry Potter series continues to film at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden – where all eight editions of the film franchise were filmed.

The Northumbrian Mysteries – Lonesome Pine Productions

Where? Northumberland

This brand new drama is set against the dramatic Northumberland coastline and its surrounding towns – plus, its supported by North East Screen through the North East Production Fund.

The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13¾ – Big Talk Studios/BBC  

Where? The Northern Studios, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Stockton, South Shields and Sunderland 

In exciting news, a new Adrian Mole adaptation is on its way – another production within the BBC’s new North East commissions. Production is supported by the North East Production Fund from North East Screen.
